Play Therapy on the Go!

If you are a licensed or pre-licensed therapist who treats children or would like to treat children, but you have to travel from one location to another or need to remove your supplies from your workplace at the end of the day, this workshop is for you!

In this 3-hour workshop, we will introduce play therapy supplies you might want to take with you to your venue to allow children to express their feelings fully.  We will also explore ways to package and transport these supplies. 

Included are strategies to regulate intensity in school sessions so that the child can safely be returned to their classroom, discussing ways to maintain the child’s confidentiality when collaborating with teachers and parents, and learn child-friendly ways to set boundaries when you’re working in a shared space.

This workshop will be paired with a companion 3-hour workshop in the afternoon that will introduce creative interventions for the “on-the-go” therapist suitable to use with kids from wherever you are practicing.  You can take each of these workshops independently – or both together.

Learning Objectives

After the workshop, participants will be able to: 

  1. List some of the advantages and disadvantages of offering mobile play therapy services

  2. Discuss ethical considerations related to mobile play therapy 

  3. Describe the steps and benefits of three mobile play therapy activities

About the Speakers:

  • Susan Kelsey, MFT, RPT-S is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor specializing in play therapy for children from toddlers to teens. She has been in practice for over 20 years specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents using play therapy as her treatment of choice. Susan presents workshops nationally and internationally and is recognized by her peers as an expert on the treatment of children and adolescents.

  • Emily Keller, PhD, LPCC, RPT-S is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor who is passionate about applying the therapeutic power of play therapy to help children, teens, and families heal and grow. She has presented at workshops nationally and internationally. She is a certified yoga instructor

Refund/Cancellation Policy: 

You may cancel for a full refund up to 15 days in advance of the event or a 50% refund between 5 and 15 days in advance of the event. No refunds for cancellations within 5 days of the event or for no-shows or failure to attend due to emergencies. Unused funds cannot be applied to future workshops.
